Hello my friends,
It's been some time since we had a chat. Something has been on my heart for a while and I wanted to just let it out. Some of you know that we've been working on "Little Light" for more than a year now. It took a lot of time and all of my savings in the bank, but it's done. We're so proud how it turned out, we've been super anxious to release it. Before it is released I wanted to write a little about music.
I remember when Napster/Kazaa were gaining popularity and you could get almost any song you wanted for free.....that was cool to me once upon a time. Back then I didn't have a job, so I couldn't afford CD's for $15 a piece, I had to buy lunch at school for the whole week. I remember Metallica made a big stink about downloading, how they were losing money. I never believed that. When I was 15 and started writing songs and felt the power and beauty of music, I started buying CD's. CD's sound better(especially with headphones) and you're supporting the artist.
Youtube has become really huge in the last couple of years. Now you don't even have to go to shows to see/hear your favorite band preform live. Not many are leaving the house anymore...that kinda' hurts. I wish CD's were free and everyone could survive. I wish shows were free and they were packed with all your friends every night. Few things compare to that experience for me. It's just a PARTY, y'know? It's a celebration. If I can experience peace for a few hours in a room with my friends and good music, I'll take it. I'm not seeing that very much anymore. It kinda' sucks to tour now and tons of bands feel the same way. Pretty soon it might stop.
I miss the support I once felt. It doesn't matter how you choose to support a band you like, just support. Bands don't last without support. We won't last without support. So, if you download a CD for free (which I'm kinda' OK with), it might be kind of you to burn that CD for 5 or 10 friends. If you're gonna' steal, at least earn it by promoting and supporting. I believe that's the right thing to do.
We all know there's NOT much to do on the weekends sometimes, so bring friends to shows. If you've ever felt alive, free and loved at a show, why wouldn't you want to share that? FILL the venue and celebrate music with your closest friends. Write down Tour dates on your calendar, post them in your school newspaper, pass out flyers. We did it, it's not Rocket Science : ).
If you care, please support. If the music means anything to you, keep us alive. Support your scene, take a chance on a band you've never heard of and spread the love to as many people as you can. Encouragement is something you can give for free, and it's invaluable to bands like us.
Thanks, we can't wait for you to hear our record and party with you at the shows.
Peace,
Jason Ford Turner

well, were back home. back at work. shit. the tour was really...well, it
was a tour alright! we had some really great times and great shows; we had
some really bad times and some pretty bad shows. our dear friend Phil Feil
saved our asses and KILLED the bass guitar all tour. he also lived solely
on chocolate covered espresso beans. cost efficient. we got to see some
dear friends up and down the west coast, and we got to meet some cool new
people as well. we got to spend some time with our buddies Lakes, and thats
always fun. we got to watch Weatherbox play a few times and they really
grew on us. we got to hear motivational speeches by drunken local frontmen:
"lets take some pills; lets make some mistakes!" we got to play
some really great venues like The Wire in Upland, the Tonic Lounge in Portland,
and a bicycle Co-op in San Fran called the Bike Kitchen. 'wheely' cool joint.
it was really great to get out and play the rock n roll for you all though.
we are coming off this little stint feeling very supported and validated
and for that we are super, super, super grateful to you all...we are also
grateful for gift cards. love. the stepsons.

Chad and I are pretty stoked to announce we've been offered a record deal
by the good folks at One Eleven Records and have accepted it. We've been
looking for a home for our record to travel to new places and befriend new
eardrums across the universe. Our band has encountered many great opportunities
so far and we're eager to take the next steps in partnership with One Eleven
and their supportive crew. We recommend listening to some of their other
bands; please visit www.111records.com for more sounds.
Being in a band isn't always easy, after some frustration and a few challenges
here and there; it's encouraging to be given a break! Luck aside, we always
had enormous waves of support from our family, friends and loved ones. We
owe immense gratitude and probably a pizza party to all of them. (You know
who you are
Everett.)
These individuals include but are not limited to: Mark and Katie Turner,
Brian "Footloose" "BK" and Natalie Kurtz, Greg W. Brooks,
Tim Towner at Daily Chorus, Nick Rucker, Craig Rickett, Derek Vaughn, Trey
Sanchez and PureVolume. Thank you all for coming to the shows (especially
Jon Eric and Scott) and listening to our humble CD; we have brand new songs
arriving with the New Year. We better hear you singing along on tour, fools!

Hey y'all. Chad and I are going back in the studio with our pal Nick Rucker THIS Saturday, Sept 22nd. We're tracking drums at The Ship, it's Aaron from Earlimart's studio. Some other bands that have recorded there are Grandaddy, Silversun Pickups and Kim Deal from the Pixies' other band The Breeders...anyone remember "Cannonball"? What a dope bass line! Anywho, I'll blow the surprise and tell you which new songs we're recording:
Little Light
Deep
The Slave (older)
Big Ass Sword

Hey everyone...so here's the new website...snazzy, eh?
We have some great shows in the next few weeks in LA @ The Roxy with Moses
Mayfield and in Martinez (Northern California) @ the Bay Area Indie Music
Fest w/Sugarcult.
If you've recently gotten your allowance, inheritance, welfare or paycheck
and want to order our new album "little light"....you can find
it at cdbaby.com, smartpunk.com, interpunk.com and most major mp3 retailers
(itunes, emusic, etc). If not for the lovely music, do it because rent,
gas and girlfriend prices are high on the west coast.
